Where this goes wrong

Flagging a vehicle on Second Road because it is the street you walked out onto. It runs north only, and it will happily take you further from the shop while looking like progress.

Daytime and evening are not the same trip

By day the cinema-and-market end of the complex is busy and vehicles queue at its exits, so the crossing to the beachfront is faster than waiting. In the evening the market outside spills over the pavement, which is the part of the walk that slows down, not the road.

An address on one street, a route on the other

The frontage you walk out of faces the northbound street. It is busy, it has shared vehicles on it, and every one of them is going the wrong way for this trip. Nothing about the scene tells you that: a vehicle with people in it looks like transport regardless of which way the street runs.

Crossing one block towards the water converts the journey into a single ride with no change at all. It is the smallest correction available anywhere on this list of routes, and it has to be made before you get in something, not after. For this route the difference is not academic — the two are far enough apart that starting from the wrong one puts you on a different part of the loop entirely. Name the full complex name, or better, show the map pin. This is the one landmark on the site where a partial name is actively worse than no name.

In the evening it is the pavement that slows down

The open-air market along the frontage spreads over the walkway after dark, and pedestrians end up in the road alongside the traffic. The road itself is not the bottleneck here; the walk to the crossing is. That inverts the usual advice about this city, where the roads are what jam and the pavements are what stay clear.

Practically, it means the crossing to the seaward street is the part to do first and unhurriedly, and the ride afterwards is the easy half. People who leave it the other way round — ride first, walk at the end — arrive at the far end of the route with the walking still to do, in the dark, in a part of town where the alleys look alike.
